UP IN THE AIR I FLY
After this tweet and this post you probably already know by now that a couple weeks ago I was unlucky enough to endure the long, so incredibly long journey from Europe to Australia. While I did have a few complaints about the sardine an style of designing we’ve all become accustomed to travelling in, I did overall have quite a pleasant journey thanks to some wonderful staff and the bonus of sitting next to lovely people who didn’t mind moving out of the way when the toilet called. Since I now can’t stop tinkering and pondering about the perfect long haul economy class sitting, I thought I’d share a few images from Airbus for their hypothetical interiors. Sure it’s not all for those at the back of the plane but wouldn’t it be lovely to see some real designed style in a plane? Do plane really need to be plane? Of course comfort is really the main priority but don’t you think it would be nice to a brand new well designed seat in front of you rather than the way too old, shabby, falling apart at the seems seats that I had to stare at while I wasn’t sleeping.
From the above image you get a glimpse of what economy class could look like and I gotta say it’s pretty nice. A lovely light and airy feel and that bar is a great idea especially to help combat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and other issues caused by sitting too long in those seats.
And who wouldn’t love to travel in their own private suite? When I win the lottery I’ll be sure travel in this style but until then, I’d settle for a well designed, bright, happy and slightly more spacious economy class. Do you agree? Leavea comment and let me know.
